In February 2019, Samsung introduced its first folding phone, the Galaxy Fold, which was released at the end of the year after fixing the famous problems that appeared on its panel. Everything seemed to indicate that in the first months of 2020 we would meet his successor, but the company presented the Galaxy Z Flip, a different concept with vertical folding.
Now, after numerous rumors and the advance that the brand itself made during the Note20 event, we already know all the details of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in Unpacked Part 2. In addition to an improved hinge and a more resistant folding system, This new folding stands out because it has 5G connectivity and offers a larger display surface on both screens.

Larger, perforated screens
Samsung’s new generation of folding is called Galaxy Z Fold 2 and, like its predecessor, aims to combine the handling and flexibility of a smartphone (folded) with the power and screen size of a tablet (open).
To do this, it has two AMOLED Infinity-O screens from end to end, almost without frames. The outer panel of the cover is 6.2 inches and has a resolution of 2,260 x 816 pixels, while the main screen, Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), measures 7.6 inches, offers an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz and boasts a resolution of 2,208 x 1,768 pixels.
Inside, we have a 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor, whose specifications match Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+, although Samsung does not specify the model. What we do know is that it has 5G (Sub6 / mmWave) connectivity and is accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage.
Five sensors in total
In the section of the cameras, we have a rear photographic equipment composed of three sensors, all of them with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Both the main lens (with Dual Pixel and AF technology) and the telephoto lens (with 2x optical zoom) incorporate an optical image stabilizer, while the wide angle offers a 123-degree field of view.
In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has two front cameras, one on the inside and one on the outside, both housed in two holes in the screens and with a resolution of 10 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2.2. We lose, therefore, the double front camera (wide angle and depth) that its predecessor had on the inside.
For the rest, its most important specifications are completed with the side fingerprint reader, the two upper and lower speakers, the USB-C port, Dual SIM function (eSIM + nanoSIM) and a dual 4,500 mAh battery with support. for fast charging, fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
