Today we are going to explain what is Google One, how much its fees cost and how to share its storage with family members. It is a new service that Google is going to implement to centralize the management of the storage space that you hire in your Google account, which is later applied to Google Drive, Photos and Gmail.
We will start by first explaining what exactly Google One is. Then we will tell you how much their rates cost and how you can hire them, and we will end by explaining at the end how you can share the storage you have contracted with the rest of your family members.
What is Google One
Google One is the name with which Google has decided to emancipate its storage service. Until now, when you hired Google storage, you did it through Google Drive, without this storage having an independent or differentiated nomenclature of these services. It was just Google Drive or Google storage.
But in May 2018 Google announced that it was going to change the name of its storage system to Google One, and that this change would be accompanied by price reductions and new rates.
The storage of this service will be the one you use in all your Google products, so that if you have contracted for example 100 GB, these will be distributed between Google Drive, Google Photos and Gmail as it happened until now with their previous plans. In addition, to use Google One you do not have to register anywhere, since the data is migrated directly from Google Drive and the storage that you have contracted there.
Currently Google One is only accessible to users who already have a storage plan with Google Drive. However, on their website they mention that there will be a definitive launch in the coming months, and they even invite you to register to receive news about the service.
How to access Google One
Google One is the service with which Google centralizes its storage contracts. To access it, you just have to go to Google Drive and click on the option Buy more storage. You can also enter directly from the one.google.com website, which is also where Google Drive will redirect you.
When you enter the page, if you still do not have a payment plan, you will be shown the two cheapest alternatives of 100 and 200 gigs in the cloud. You also have a More options button to see the rest of the rates.
How much are your fees
As we have told you, Google One has some slightly different rates than Google Drive had until now. The most surprising is a new one that offers 200 gigabytes for only one euro more than what the minimum rate of 100 had been costing, and for the rest it is already going up offering several teras at more or less adjusted prices. Here are the full rates.
- 15 GB free
- 100 GB for $ 1.99 per month
- 200 GB for $ 2.99 per month
- 2 TB for $ 9.99 per month
- 10 TB for $ 99.99 per month
- 20 TB for $ 199.99 per month
- 30 TB for $ 299.99 per month
How to change your Google One rate
To change your Google One rate, you must first have been accepted by Google in the service after fulfilling the requirements that we have told you before. Then go to one.google.com, where you will see the details of your storage. There, press the blue More storage button to take you directly to the option on that same website.
You will go down to an area of the same page where you can see all the available rates. All you have to do is click on the Update button of the rate you want to start using. Along with the rates, you will also see the one you are using at the moment so that you can compare the prices and the storage you get in return.
Once you have chosen a rate, a window will appear in which the payment process opens. All you have to do is follow all the steps of the payment process that Google has and that’s it, you will have changed your storage plan.
